Sleep Tourism: The New, Dreamy Travel Trend

Move over, adventure travel—2025 is all about sleep tourism. As more people prioritize self-care and quality rest, vacations designed around deep, restorative sleep are on the rise.

Gone are the jam-packed itineraries. Instead, travelers are seeking peaceful getaways that recharge the mind and body. According to Hilton’s recent travel survey, the top reason people want to travel now is to “rest and recharge.” And with 1 in 3 Americans not getting enough sleep, that makes perfect sense.

Hotels and resorts have taken note

You’ll now find luxury properties offering everything from sleep kits to sound-absorbing tech and cocoon-shaped hammocks designed for mid-day rest. At Castle Hot Springs in Arizona, for example, guests can book the Soak & Slumber package, complete with sleep tea, a copper bracelet, and guided activities designed to ease the nervous system. Even the White Lotus-famous Four Seasons in Koh Samui, Thailand, offers a dreamy Secret Night Ritual with Tibetan singing bowls and a coconut petal bath under the stars.

On a budget? Plan your own DIY sleep staycation

But you don’t need a plane ticket to experience the benefits of sleep tourism. You can create a DIY sleep staycation at home. Start by upgrading your sleep space—think soft sheets, blackout curtains, and a MVMI Pillow that’s truly comfortable. Then, plan a few quiet days focused on rest. Try evening yoga, a hot bath, a calming playlist, and an early bedtime. You can even sip on a "sleepy mocktail" or wind down with meditation.

What we have learned

At its core, sleep tourism is about giving your body and brain permission to slow down. In a world that rarely pauses, these trips—and mini retreats at home—offer a chance to rest, reset, and reconnect with what truly restores you.

So, the next time you plan a getaway, ask yourself: What if the main event was sleep?
